Got to get a LOC, really need some suggestions/help

As you said, most times we don't hear turn on pop because of the amp's turn on delay. And most amps have a "soft start" feature.
Turn off pop is a bit different. An active LOC has its opamp biased to 1/2 the battery, with a capacitor to decouple that from the output. When the LOC's power disappears the coupling capacitor discharges through the amp's input resistance. If the amp is still active (power supply not yet discharged), you get a pop or thump through the speakers/subs.

Dealing with this can be a real PITA. My Audiocontrol EQL does it (no excuse IMO) and I have to put a relay between the EQ and amp inputs to disconnect them when remote drops out.

Passive LOCs that are just transformers don't do that. And good LOCs like the Navone unit don't either.
Good response.

I never had a pop with the EQL when I ran it with the stock HU and an xtant 403a.

i use the audio control LC2i and it has no turn on thump and its great. Has its own remote to turn on the amp and a built in line driver. It has aother features as well but its around $90. I wouldn't get any of the cheap ones for myself

That's interesting... Others have reported pop with Audiocontrol equipment too. It really frosts me, given their rep for quality gear.

If I was to design an amp, I'd include a feature to mute the audio when the remote drops. I wonder if some amps have that already.

Huh, well that's actually really good to know. That's kinda crappy, how AudioControl units have the turn-off thump. You'd definitely think that with the prices of some of their gear, they could make the annoying tidbits be nonexistent.

I could imagine some amps have it. Or are in the process of integrating it.

How much did that cost you?

I paid $95 for it, there's much more expensive ones but i liked the features and the company

you get what you pay for. There are cheaper ones like the ones in this thread, but i wanted to go with a trusted company thats expertise is sound processors. Good luck whichever one you choose
