Went to Jackson, TN today to get my SX 18 metered. It was at JC Audio, and the dude said he had 2 mics, one was a cheap one and the other costed him like $4000 to get, i forget the names of the mics but anyways. They charged $10 to get metered by the cheap one and $15 for the more expensive. Idk why I just didnt go ahead and do the $15 one but anyways.

The mic he brought out was all taped up and shit, you could tell it been from hell and back, idk if that made a difference prolly not.

Well, he turned it on and set everything on the h/u and started at 30hz and it hit like a 125 and then I did 45hz and it hit like a 137 and i figured cool its going up, lets try 50hz went to 130.

So, the most I hit was a 137 @ 45hz. At that point I was disgusted and he was talkin about voltage drops and shit and asked me what kind of amp I had and i told him a Kenwood 1000D and then he asked what size fuse it had and I told him 40amp. He said oh well thats prolly your problem your amp is only pushing 400W. I said hows that? And he told me, well usually you can take the fuse rating and multiply it by 10 and thats the true power your getting.

All in all I was disappointed. I mean I expected 140s atleast, but then I realize it aint near as good as it should be. So time to rip it all out. I kinda threw it all together fast and didnt take my time. Learned from that mistake, wont rush anything anymore.

That is all.

In all honesty... that kenwood amp probably is the problem.

either that or your box sucks ***.

edit: or both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The installer told you that fuse size x ten = rms power from the amp? And you believed this...?

This is 100% incorrect. The fuse means nothing in that sense...

But a 137 aint bad for a daily vehicle tuned as low as that..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Legit 140's are solid numbers to be hitting, and 137 isnt bad if the mic is set up legit. Im sure you could use more power though as Im sure your sub can handle quite a bit more than what that Kenwood is gonna give you

MORE POWER!!!

The box is basically RE specs for a SQL box on their website. Do you have more room to widen the port a little? The port is a little narrow in comparison to its length. I'm not sure if that would affect output or not.

Box is built to RE specs, however no bracing except for t-nuts holding the sub in. That may be a slight problem.

But yes that amp is probably my main problem.

I will probably build a new box and tune higher maybe even bigger box.

I have a Hifonics 1800D but its not working. Really need to get it fixed.

As for the fuse rating x 10 = rms, I didnt know from one way or the other. I have never heard of that.

My truck is just all stock, so big 3 and 1/0 gauge wiring, and get some volts going to the amp, sound deaden, box tuned higher and then we will see from there.

Not lookin to compete, just want a really loud daily. After that I may piddle with competing just not now. I just want to be loud and sound good doing it.

Coming from a guy who designed the box and its put together exactly to his design.

So he did it....*points at ghost* lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/escape.gif.52b661afb17bde1db0e0c7da97e75b38.gif
