cool. looks like theyre shipping it out today so it should be here by friday or so then. But my alt in my jeep is in a really awkward spot and i dont really feel like installing the new one myself because it was a pain last time. Anyone know about how much it would cost to have an auto shop do it??

bad news...it took a shit on me

just playing ha. been about a week, and ive put it through hell and all it good so far. no weird noises or nothing really. but main update here is this

was stuck in about 96 degree weather at my apartment but i did some testing

battery resting voltage is 12.7 - 12.8V

charging system voltage was 13.82v

popped in my test track of all time since it produces the loudest bass of any song i have in my collection which USUALLY also correlates to drawing the most current

lil jon - BME click aka track 21 off the kings of crunk cd. bumping this song on my old setup just wasnt a good idea lol. annyways heres the stats

@ ~650 rpm idle: voltage dropped from 13.8 to 12.8V...not bad IMO

walkychalky: price to install is gonna depend on the manufacturor. each one has different labor times. for my ford it might be .5 hours labor since its easy to get to. so at a $90 labor rate i would pay $45. since you say your is awkward to get to it might pay a full hour labor which depending on the place you get it from (dealership or private shop) and their labor rate, it might be as cheap as say $45 to as high as say $135 or more. it all depends on the what the labor manual says the job is worth. but since its only a replacement alt i would definatly just take it to a private shop since the dealer will charge more.

Mean Green is good and their customer service is great. Ohio Gen. would probably be better, but they're quite a bit more expensive. Give Mean Green a call, they will probably be atleast $100 cheaper for a 200a.

WranglerNW also makes a very nice alternator in that price range. WranglerNW includes a new 1/0 or 2/0 charge cable w/ an inline fuse.

i have heard good things about these guys as well. lol

running the 20.1 @ 1 ohm.

20.1 is known to put out roughly 2400+ watts @ 1 ohm and Mr. IA himself said they have seen between 2400 and 2800 watts on a single 20.1.

my 20.1 is probably giving the mag a run for its money, cause im over powering it quite a bit considering most people reccomend 1.5k on it, but i dont bump for too long on SUPER heavy bass music cause ive got it stinky a few times lol. havent gotten a chance to test on tones yet but will soon.

i dont know but im pretty sure they only work with domestics. if HO wants 650, im assuming its an import?

h-o only wanted 450 shipped for a 220a for my explorer

yes 160amp alt from ohio gen for 525 plus shipping and 650 plus shipping for 170amp from hoalternator not sure what size alt but its going on a 1.5 liter engine same as scion xb and xa.

i dont know off hand but i THINK i read somewhere that ohio alts are hot rated...meaning if its rated 160A hot, then that would be comparable to say a 175-180a from a different company. dont quote me on the fact of ohio being rated hot though

maybe that is true but hoalternator told me ohio gen use gm casings and not direct bolton alt. then again hoalternator could of just been saying that so they can sell to me.
