they dont need a meter... the judge will laugh at u if u said that. the law varies place to place but in most cases if a cop can hear ur car 25ft or more away its too loud and u can get a ticket.

ridiculous.... i can hear TALKING from 25 feet away...

The law in my city is if the can hear you from 100ft during the day or 50ft at night. hypothetically speaking, would I be able to fight a ticket if the cop heard me bumping from 40ft away? (of course given that there are no exceptions in the written law prohibiting this)
