Got a few ?s after my install....

Alright so I got my Diamond CM312D4 and my Planet Audio 1250.1, Its running at 2 ohm and im not sure how well the PA is built but The Diamond is rated @ 300rms and I figured it could take more than what it was rated but on certain notes it bottoms out and clips. I let my friend adjust the gains on my amp and my Hu (Kenwood Mp5032) Well it gets decently loud and sounds ok but not as clean and accurate as I hoped. While in the front seat I think it sounds good but when I move to the rear hatch its distorting and I tell my friend we need to reset the gains and he says "oh it doesnt matter what the sub sounds like back here".... I think its a load of bs and I need help on settin my gains correctly on the amp and hu. The box is also designed for 2 12s but only one is installed now on the opposite side of the port and he also said once I got my other sub it would sound better that only havin 1 was a problem. I can take pics for anyone willing to help.

i have that pa 1250.1 as well and at 2 ohms my birthsheet says 1000rms at 13.3 volts. im sure a 300 rms sub shouldnt be pushed that hard in the first place. and installing one sub in a ported box built for two i would imagine is like putting a sub in a horribly leaky box. its just not going to sound right at all.

Yea I figured the box was an issue and I didnt know the amp was rated that good, thanks for your input man.
