Got a $260 speed ticket.

LMAO! Way to keep food on the table of your peers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It won't be that much cheaper. I'd rather just pay the ticket and be done with the nonsense. I was after all caught, and can face the consequences unlike some whiny ***** who feel the need to tell us every time they speed.
All depends on the situation...I wouldnt hire an attorney for like a $70 noise violation ticket or anything. I guess with my growing age I always say "how much is my time worth?" And if its worth $5-10 an hour sure I'll sit in court and waste my time...but for $125 (free for me), I'd rather have an expensive ticket erased no questions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Also, dont go to the fresh outta law school kids who charge you $55, then make up ridiculous court costs to compensate for the low introductory rate.

Wouldn't the lawyer cost more then the ticket though? Or are they working for that cheap these days? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
I've seen ads here as low as $39...people dont understand though how the business works. Down here, people are soley traffic attorneys and literally run through about 20 tickets a day at the courthouses...it takes about 30 seconds to litigate each ticket so in essense, if you have high volume you can charge less.

I hope they throw the book at you, you start yelling they throw you in contempt of court and you get ***** while in the slammer.

70 in a 25 *mutters*

"but but, the guy next to me didn't get pulled over" Sorry bub, guess the cop can only stop one high speed death machine at a time.

I'm sure it wasn't your fault though, I mean that sign must be hidden and the rule must not be fair, they just randomly put up a 25 there.

He had to pick someone. 1 cop can't exactly pull 3 people over, idiot.
So theoretically there is a 50% chance that I could've saved about ~$750? Wow, that's fair. No reason to complain about that.

The structure in your posts dictate otherwise. You sound more like a cocky SOB who thinks he can just do shit and never pay consequences if he whines enough.
The structure in my posts, huh? How often do you try to use big words like "structure" to make yourself sound smart? BTW, the structure of my **** inside your mom's butt indicates that she likes my structure in her butt.

Pittbull: If I had your Ferrari I wouldn't have to worry about a meager $260 fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

wow, you were a paralegal for a year... suddenly an expert then. oooh nooo big words, whatever will any poor person do that is against you in court //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
I know here, and for most professional police organizations, you SHALL be present for all court hearings, so dont bet on him not showing up. And I'll tell you what, 1 yr of paralegal SECRETARY experience or not, a police officer that's worked in the same jurisdiction for more than a year, and has represented himself in a professional manner should have earned the respect of the corresponding jurisdictional judge/justice etc. Some punk kid that tries to fight a properly executed traffic arrest with big words and "vast experience" is laughable, why not take your head out of the clouds. If you actually act like a normal human being, before the trial, ask the officer if he would mind letting you plead guilty to a lesser offense. Most officers will not care too much about it, they arrested you, got credit for the citation and will get a paycheck one way or another.

Or go in there and throw big words around, get PWND by a veteran police officer and pay more money... I could care less either way.
Why are you so butt hurt? First, I was just pointing out that via articulation of what I say, I will have credibility. I notice that you called me a secretary, that hurts, really. But you know what hurts more? The amount of money I made as a "secretary." I'm not sure where you're quoting "vast experience" from. I take it, you don't know what the word pseudo means? See, I told you using big words works. At any rate, learn to read, write, and then post somewhere else as you've contributed nothing.

slickrick: I heard about the calibration thing too. I think it has to be calibrated like every 30 days or something. Also, there are different types of radars i.e. ones that can't catch two cars and/or are inaccurate when doing so. also also, this happened about 45 minutes from my house, so it's a pain in the *** to get to. i would've already talked to the lawyers i used to work with (and one in particular owes me a favor) into coming down, but that's in boston and i don't want i'm saving that get out of jail card for later. i still have time to find a loophole for now, and that's what i'm doing.

and iamdeman is a ****.

Well clearly you think you can articulate, still saying big words will wow your way through court. Ill remember that next time I'm there, I'll simply say, "antidisestablishmentarianism" and leave, because I will WIN //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Where does your credibility come from, articulate that for me? I did offer advice to you, talk to the officer before court and avoid the trial. Maybe you were busy trying to think of big words and missed reading that, it's okay.

Good luck with whatever route you take, I'm not butthurt in the slightest, in fact I'm enjoying this thread very much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

(and yes, speed testing equipment has to be tested every xx days, depending on your states laws, PA is every 30 days for radar.)

in the long run you will save money insurance wise with a lawyer. I dont think he could get you out of going that fast over though. All they usually have to say is your speedo is in the fritz. My g/f got a deal with her moms lawyer and he got her out of 2 speeding tickets for over $900. And that was a deal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You tell me man, who looks more credible saying identical sentences--the suited and booted young strapping lad (myself) or a 4-toothed inarticulate redneck (see: IamDeman)? It's just one of those things, I'm not implying anything. It's the way of the world. I did get your advice, it's just that I'm not sure what I would plead to? And a moving violation is a moving violation after all.

That's a good idea. I need more imaginative thinking like this.

I'm not familiar with your states laws, but there should be an online law reference.

For instance, PA vehicle code, title 75, 3362 is speeding, say I cite someone for that, they show up to court with that. Okay if they want a break, I may offer 3111, which is obedience to traffic control devices (a no points violation, that wont affect your insurance.)

If your father is an attorney, he should be more than familiar with lesser penalty sections.

and here you go, read this too.
