Good subs for kicker panels?

There was a car some years ago, can't for the life of me remember the owner, with all DLS gear that squeezed 10s or 12s into the kick. Total stealth. Used the fender well as the enclosure. I've also seen subs in the driver and passenger footwells with the enclosure under the car.

My point is that depending on how much work you want to do, there is no limit to what size driver you can fit up front.

If you plan on doing the standard kick pods, you will be hard pressed to get enough air for any sub.

Actually helotaxi, I thought of that idea a few weeks ago. Have the subs under the car with some plexiglass looking through to them. Then I thought of the logistics of it, and didn't think it would work due to the space constraints under my car. Technically I could get one of those JL slim subs but I'm not sure it would be worth it then.

Earl Z. (not even going to try to spell his last name) had 15" B&W custom subwoofers in the kicks of his BMW;

That car is a legend.

Anyways...as helo said, what size you can fit completely depends on how much effort you're willing to put into it.

Also, a lot of people mount the subwoofers under the dash, on the transmission hump where a "center console" would be located at. Gives you some more space to play with if your car doesn't have a stock center console to begin with.

Actually, here is a good thread for you to read;

Do a search over there for front mounted subwoofers. It's been covered a hundred times....I was even contemplating it at various times over the past few years. Never actually tried it though....yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

No.

It is to get all of your drivers in front of you for optimal stageing.

It does many things. Allows yo to run true stereo bass and less wory with Xover frequincies so yo ucna set up proper slopes alot easier are two major factors.

However it does NOT mean you can run your subs as mids too. Most subs have inductance and moving mass far too great to be ran above ~80Hz without sacraficing massive ammounts of low low end. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You could do that only run it IB and put a spash/rock guard around the driver. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you could also build the enclosure into the dash firing down into the kick area.

so then is there no need for a mid bass driver to make up there diffrence where the sub stops and the mid picks up?
thats what a 3 way front stage is, a few people run them but they are harder to set up and a lot more time consuming if you go active trying to find the right tuning.
