Good daily workout tips?

If anyone in here is interested in reading a book or two about body building/ ftiness I recommend checking out:

Encyclopedia of Muscle & Strength by Jim Stoppani

Hight-Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer Way by Mike Mentzer with John Little

Or watch Pumping Iron with Arnold and Lou Ferrigno. Wicked movie, even though it doesn't give much in the way of working out tips it's just a very insightful movie into the lifestyle of pro bodybuilders.

If you are just starting out with weight training then I would recommend this program:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

Get your diet and sleep planned accordingly with that routine and I guarantee you'll be happy with the results.
Actually trying that program right now...goin all good except squats...I am not flexible from years of sitting. Gotta stretch moar.

Deadlift is fun though, nothing i've done is quite like it for a fun lift //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Some other books to consider:

Starting Strength

Practical Programming both by Mark Rippetoe

and Beyond Brawn by Stuart McRobert

I've read quite a few books on weight lifting and bodybuilding and those were my personal favorites.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif)I guess I'll throw my 2 cents in. Someone already posted Iron addicts forum. IMO, best site on the web for BB information. Bodybuilding.com is basically the web equivalent of here in terms of bb info, no offense to caf. However, you will get alot of flaming, alot of misinformed opionions and only a few knowledgable individuals. Iron addicts is closer to DIMYA or ECA. Anyway, read up on there all you can, but I'll help you some with basics.

1.Train for strength, not size. Stick to heavy weights in the 8-12 rep range. 2-4 sets, depending on your recovery, but less is often more.. Stimulate, not annihilate. Volume training doesn't work for everyone but it's pretty hard to bench 300 and not have big arms. Plus if you cannot bench 300lbs squat 500 and deadlift 600, you have alot of gains left in the stregth area anyway, might as well take advantage of them.

2.For dieting your main goal should be 1.5x your weight in lbs in protein every day. If you can't do that at LEAST get 1x your bodyweight. To figure out what your eating setup an account at http://www.fitday.com and log what you eat. You'll probably find you don't each at much protien as you think and that you dont' eat enough in the first place.

3.Eat smaller meals more often. It keeps your metabolism high which helps counter weight gain. In addition, your body needs a constant stream of protein to grow, not a huge dosage followed by 8hrs of starvation. It's like taking medicine, you dont down an entire bottle of pills to instantly cure a sickness. That'll just waste it (and probably kill you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif)'

That's the biggest basics other that that just read and bring any specifics here or to IA's forum, odds are you can find what you want if you search.

Right on man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif For improving your squat technique I'd highly recommend doin box squats.

Check out some of these vids for examples: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=box+squats

Reason I recommend them is cause there is no way to cheat them, you have to squat all the way down at or below (depending on the height of the box) parrallel and it will improve your form. Check out this article:

^This article is what actually turned me on to box squatting.

I have lost about 15 pounds in a couple months by cutting my diet to essentially two eggs in the morning, a Foreman grilled burger with cheese for lunch on two pieces of bread, and half a portion of chicken or fish for dinner along with a side of rice or potatoes and a vegetable

I also do 30 minutes on an eliptical everyday. Every other day I lift a little bit in addition to the bike. It's easy, gives me more energy. Plus, I lost 15 pounds and helped get me arms a tad more toned.

I love good stories like these. Keep it up man!

are tortilla chips and salsa ok?
im still trying to figure out how many cals what certain food is so i can put together a meal plan to hit my cals everday
chips are generally a no-no. Salsa isn't bad but you shouldn't use very much. I used to put some on my eggs but it was like a half a cup.
