I'mPoor:(
SoundQubed Is Life.
Alright so my super duper 80A alternator, yeah **** you toyota, has officially got problems.
Before I get my second subwoofer in, I am going to be upgrading my alternator!
Turns out.... the max amperage I can get for a direct bolt on is 175-180A.
I have found one company that makes The Alternator and will send me a bracket made for my car with it.
The company is Rush Power Systems. Here is their website - Rush Power Systems - High Amp Alternators, Gear Reduction Starters, and other Automotive Electrical Products. this is the message he told me,
"The problem is your stock alternator can't handle that much power,
alternators generate heat and the case design will not dissipate that much
heat and the stator is not large enough to produce that much power. Your
stock alternator is about 120mm we have a bolt in kit in which the
alternator is about 130mm. the kit includes 250 (Hot Rating) amp alternator, power kit,
bracket kit, and adaptor plug and it is a full bolt on kit. the price on
the kit is $540 including US ground shipping, we also have a HD version for
$665.50. the standard is more of a daily driver and the HD version is
designed for competition use. All products are covered by our lifetime
warranty. By way of comparison we can build your stock alternator to 175
amps, we could go more but you would just burn it up in a year or less, the
cost for the 175 amp is $486.50."
I have been getting other quotes but no one sells a bracket, they tell me to get one CNC'd and fit to my car. My main concern is this company good and has anyone delt with them before? I might as well get a DC universal or Mechman alternator and go get a bracket made if they are not trust worthy.
Thanks for you help.
