Gonna build a box soon ...few Q's

i should be getting my XXX 15 pretty soon and im gonna port it, and make it acocrding to to Bill T's Plans http://community.webshots.com/user/vaboom (thanks fer that post BTW) and i have a few q's

1. it says a double baffle....basicaly that means two pieces of mdf on the front where the sub is rite?

2. what do i do for bracing...there is nothing in the specs

3. Do i need a terminal cup or can i just drill small holes in the box and run the wires out

2. You can make some traingles and put them in the corners where it might flex or you can lay down some 1" strips of MDF in the box.

3. Either or, The small holes method will leak less air, and its cheaper.

just put press a glob of clear silicone into the hole when the wires are in there. seal it right up.

a few more questions

1. For a ported box like this is it vitally important that i glue/cawk(sp) the box in a addition with screws or can i just screw it down

2. what type/ length screws should i use for 3/4 inch MDF

and if you have any tips fior a first time box maker plz go ahead and share

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif yes... get 1 inch or 1 and a quarter inch.. that should be fine. also, consider buying wood glue for the box. this will work better then screws and you wont have to put half as many in. you do have to "cawk"o it or else it will mess up the balance. tret it liek a sealed box. for suggeswtions, tripple check all your measurements before you cut. you dont wanna ahve to go buy another sheet of MDF. good luck

1 5/8 screws work perfectly. Anything shorter tends to strip easily if you get happy w/ the drill. Definately use wood glue, put a screw every 6" or so.

always use caulk and glue. i use 1 5/8 drywall screws about every 4". remember always predrill your screw holes, or you'll split the wood...gauranteed!
