looking to go with an active xover setup but im having some difficulties

my goal is to have my:

midbass play from 80hz-400

midrange play from 400-3500

tweeters play from 3500 and up.

the mid bass will be on a 2 channel amp

the mids and tweeters will be on a 4 channel amp

can anyone suggest to me how i should go about getting the frequencies i want to each speaker. can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct product to go with and how i should use it?

Do you have a budget for an active xover?

You could use a Profile RX30R ($40) or Memphis 16-XO3 ($130). Both are 3-way and meant for sub integration, but that can be easily worked around.

Here's the spec sheet for the 16-XO3.

Here's what you can do for a 3-way setup as you described:

MidBass: Use the Xover sub output set to 400Hz LP....set your amplifer for this output to HP 80Hz.

MidRange: Use the Xover Bandpass output set to HP 400 Hz, LP 3500 Hz....keep amplifer for this output on full range.

Tweeters: Use the Xover High output set to 3500 Hz....keep amplifer for this output on full range.

Do you have plans to add a separate subwoofer xover or is that going to be run controlled through you HU/sub amp?

so basically what i need in addition to what i already stated is..

an additonal 2 crossover points for the rear:

midrange crossed at 400

and tweeters crossed at 3500

these mids and tweeters will be on an additional 4 channel amp

as well as a channel for the subs...

all in all

i neet 6 channels up front, 4 in the back and a sub channel...

so if someone can build on what deja posted to make this all work, i'd love ya. i understand that there will be a combination of products, but that does not scare me!

ok...

the dlq-8 will integrate, and give me 8 channels.... then where do i go?

how do i then split the front to a three way and get the xover points that i want with no overlapping, and get the rears the same way

nah this is for me...

im going the pro-audio route, which u guys would probably hate

front:

2-8" o2 audio midbass

2-6.5" o2 audio midrange

2-o2 audio tweeters

rear:

4-6.5" o2 audio midrange

2-o2 audio tweeters

i dont want to lose the fading (front to rear) option becuase i dont want to lose all imaging, most of the time i will keep it 75f/25r, but at times i want to pump it up a little bit, to go 50/50 and have a bunch of vocals.

A combo of the DQL-8 and active crossover(s) would do the job.

Just so I'm on the same page as you, you're wanting to do the following, correct?

FRONT

2 channel stereo MidBass: 80-400 Hz

2 channel stereo MidRange: 400-3500 Hz

2 channel stereo High: 3500+ Hz

(6 channel XOVER)

REAR

2 channel stereo MidRange: 400-3500 Hz

2 channel stereo MidRange: 400-3500 Hz

2 channel stereo High: 3500+ Hz

(4 or 6 channel XOVER)

SUB

1 or 2 channel mono up to 80Hz

(2 or Sub channel XOVER)

Correct?

2 channel stereo MidRange: 400-3500 Hz2 channel stereo MidRange: 400-3500 Hz

2 channel stereo High: 3500+ Hz

(4 or 6 channel XOVER)
all is right except that this may cause confusion...

the midrange speakers are 8 ohms, so i was going to wire them in parallel to get me a 4 ohm load on the amp for each channel. i doubt that this will affect much, and it will probably be 2way in the rear if I understand how the xovers work.

that altomobile xover looked really sweet but i bet it costs a fortune, looking for prices now

deja... ur the man, hopefully u can make this work for me (and hpefully i dont sound like a noob, just the oem interfacing combined with going 3 way is confusing me)

80... ill be waiting for the call

i cant wait for the ms8 to come out, that would support the 4 way setup, but still would be assed out for the front to rear fading aspect

but it sums the frequencies, im not sure if all the others do that... i may go with the PXE-H650 when it releases, or buy a flying pig.... whichever comes first
