Friendship is overrated. Ten years from now you will probably have only kept up with one or two of your current friends. And you don't have to lay it all on the line all at once. Just casually ask her out with the mindset that if she says no it is no big deal. If she does say no you may be uncomfortable around her for a while but that's no big deal.
