Getting to the Alternator

Im having trouble getting to the alternator boot to connect it to the pos of batt. I cant even see the godam boot. The air filter and its connections are on top of it. Does any have a 03 cavilier and know an easy way to get to the alt? I tried to find a way but I just got pissed off and quit.

Also, Im trying to ground the engine to chassis. There is the stock ground point with a nut on it. But the space where the nut is located is too small to unscrew. So would it be alrite to just put the ring terminal on top of that nut and just screw another nut on?

lol- good game new engines. my 94 cavalier's alternator was right on top =)

check my gallery for pics.

but seriously... if you cant get to the + terminal, and you need to get that wire on, you better learn how to take that air filter off man. i know it can be done, so ya better start lookin.

yes.

or find another spot *MAKE SURE THE NUT\BOLT THAT YOU UNSCREW IS NOT A PRESSURE BEARING FASTNER!* dont wanna blow your gaskets and **** shit up royally. just make sure everything is clean (bare metal\no grease)

good luck mang.

No i doubt that it is one of the pressure thingy nut because the negative it grounded there and it is not a screw that goes into the block. It is a thread that sticks out of the block and a nut that goes on it. But my question was if it is ok to just leave that nut on there, then put the new wire on top of that nut, then put another nut on top of that. Is that ok??

Ok i still cant find anything that will help me on taking off the air filter thing. The manual only shows how to check the actual air filter but not on taking off the entire mechanism.

Ok so if so if i decide to take it off, Will the tubes connected to the engine block shoot off pressure or sumthin when i unplug them? Any precautions? I think that this filter thing might only be strapped by one big brace. So I might be able to do it

I got good new and I got bad news. I did 2 of the big 3. Engine to chassis, neg to chassis. And I also figured out how to take off the air filter mechanism.

BAD NEWS: even after I took of that air crap thing, I still cant get to the boot of alt. The oil dip stick tube is there, the PC wiring is there, some other bulky wires and of course, the godam side of the engine block.... So wat now? Do I go to a african witch doctor and tell him to shrink my hand? Or is there an easier way?

By the way its a 2003 Cavalier if any one owns one and knows how to do it.
