Getting my Hifonics Brutus 2600 RMS Wired up in 3 days...and....

british columbia canada, and yes it is legal since i have a medicinal card from my doctor allowing me to smoke pot, i have epilepsy and marijuana cures all the nasty side effects i get from my medicine. Its either smoke pot, and take 1 type of pill or take around 3 differant types of meds, 1 of witch can give you a fatal skin rash so i stuck with smoking pot, and taking the simpler meds. Since i smoked pot since i was 16, now i am just legal to grow/possess it. So yes. Its legal, You want to see my medicinal papers ?
can we get back on topic...

No, it's cool. Just not used to seeing that sort of thing on a public video server so blatantly.... They have medicinal mary-jane here in some states of the US too I think, I don't know.... i cannot smoke pot, it makes me paranoid as ****....

Glad you found something that helped you out... no biggie, I just thought it was crazy to see that video, u got some bud there dude... sweet!

kool. Yeah, no problem. I guess it could be a little shocker to go to my channel and see that.

Im lucky to have a very open minded neurologist and somebody who stands behind my choice whole heartedly. Being only 22 i am one of the youngest people to have a medicnal marjiuana licsense.

i am aloud up to 5g a day to smoke/consume in any fashion.

Now that that is all out of the way, what do you guys think about the setup?

The speaker cables comming out of the channel sections on the amp are still the same size, was the installer suposed to make them thicker since now more power is going through them ?

also i know this amp is a mono amp, and can run at 1ohm, but they crossed the 2 channel hook-ups to strap the amp down at 2ohms, i tryed hooking it up the regular way to get 1ohm load out of it, and i would get no sound out of my woofers, just the components in the car would play.

They are DVC, i just dont think i was hooking them up right. But i would like to switch them over to 1ohm ASAP, I know they can handle a 1ohm load because the first amp i had from futureshop MTX 600t witch was not stable at 1ohm, was at first running at 1ohm and going into protection mode. The subs where ******* to much juice from it. So i know theyre is a way to wire them up at 1ohm, I am just very new to all of this and do not know how.

As the box will being finished on monday, Luckily there has been no power issues. When it is cranked and big bass notes hit it almost sucks the capacitor empty, but not quite. Things dim a bit, but only when running multiple high amp components such as heating/lights/etc.

Any help on those 2 questions would be great, feel free to continue to admire my marijuana if you would like, but i am posting here because of my car not my trees //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Your amp is 1 channel, with 4 speaker terminals. i.e. internally, in the amp, the +'s are tied together, and the -'s are tied together....

There are 4 possible connections there rather than just 2 because it is more convenient for you to add 4 total wires to power 2 seperate subwoofers.

Just look at the amp endplate and you should see where it is marked + and -. If your subs are wired at 2 ohms each then you can just wire ++ and -- to the amp for 1 ohm. If your subs are wired at 1 ohm each it will be .5 ohm and that is not a good idea, will fux up the amp....

Thanks friend for answering this i think i understand, so the amp channels comming out of the amp, should be going into their own respective +/- channels and then when it gets to the sub, it should go + to + and - to - ?

or do i hook them up on the amps end, + & + and - & - and then replicate that on the subwoofers end ?

i do not want to strap them down at .5ohm, want to get them at 1ohm i will take a video if what i just explained above, does not make any sense.

i appreciate all your guys's help it is great. Also do you know if the speaker wires going to the subs should have been upgraded along with my 0 gauge ??

Going by the video, if your subs are dual 2 ohms, you ended up with a 2 ohm load. If your subs are dual 4 ohms, you ended up wiring it to a 4 ohm load. What's the voicecoil configuration on those things?

Dual 4-Ohm Voice Coils. it would be friggin GREAT !!! if you could help me get this to 1ohm, **** if they are running on 4ohms and still getting that loud thats pretty insane, please help me figure out how to strap it down to 1ohm ! you guys have been awsome, i love thease forums ! im sory for being such a newb

this is how futureshop wired it, they said it was 2ohm setup, but oviously they where wrong, unless u made a mistake. But i have more faith in some of you guys than the installer who did the amp install, it was not the main one i usually deal with and he might have messed up on hooking it up. Also does the speaker wire comming out of the amp need to be any thicker of a gauge ?

thanks guys for all your help, i cant wait to hear this thing at 1ohm !

You need to wire it like in the link above to get a 1 ohm load. Notice how the 2 subs are wired together in the last step. You don't have to do that, instead, just run your speaker wires straight to the amp.
roger, i did this and the subs hardly moved at all and everything was dimming REAL bad, i dont think my battery is good enough its a winterized battery but i am going to get a kinetik hc1800 under the hood to replace my stock battery, and get a big farad capacitor this week, so i can run the amp at its true potential.

i switched it back to the 4ohm setup, and it works fine. also could you please let me know if my speaker wiring should also be 0 gauge ? it is still the tiny wiring they used from the first installation, im speaking about the wiring going to the subs. it is not 0 gauge, it is not thick at all, could this be why the subs where hardly moving at 1ohm because so much power was trying to get thru such small wire gauge ?

everything was dimming like hell so i deffinatly need the new battery/cap this week.

will keep you guys posted ! getting the box sealed up tomarow, and will be on the battery situation ASAP.

the box will be 12ft sealed. ( open to both subs not seperate )

i think the speaker wire gauge is to thin to run at 1ohm and that is why the subwoofers were hardly moving at all yet everything was dimming so bad, because it was drawing the full amount of power but it could not get it to the subs.

what gauge of speaker wire should i use for 2600 RMS ? it does not look like 0 gauge will fit in the speaker terminals on the amp.

any help would be great guys, I figure that the subs didnt move very much and everything dimmed so bad because of the speakerwire, or because of my battery.

Both of witch i will be replacing this week, so stay tunned guys to finally see this beast in action.

12 gauge speaker wire will be more than adequate for the subs. You could go as large as 8 gauge if you really want to but that is pretty much overkill. And don't waste your money on a cap. Upgrade to a larger battery under the hood and add a extra battery in the back.
