Getting my Hifonics Brutus 2600 RMS Wired up in 3 days...and....

i am curious if the installer is right to say that my 90amp alternator that is in my car will handle it ?

i am sure it is a stronger 90amp alternator because it is a big car, 1997 crystler LHS. pictures can be found in my other threads. Nice big luxury car has all the electronic options, 6 way adjustable seats and all.

the setup already has a heavy duty battery aswell as a capacitor, should i perhaps add another capacitor because this thing is going to draw alot of power when big bass notes drop and i dont want to kill my car in the middle of winter.

Theyre are no larger alternators i can fit into my car for my model just 90 amp's i would have to get one custom built, would a second option if the system will kill the 90 amp + 1 capacitor, or with 2 capacitors could i wire up a 2nd altinator in unison with my existing one ?

this is powering 2 MA audio 18''

i also have the box opened right up into the bottom spare tire well of the car, the Square feet is probably 20sq its a huge box, higher notes u cant really feel but lower ones make the hole car shake.

he wants to put a bottom on the box, and shrink its size, do you think this will loose that low end ? or will it just increase it?

i am getting this done thursday AM, and will have video. the installation is already existing in my car this is just gutting a weaker amp, and installing a much more powerfull one along with that, i had some questions so i thought id ask on here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i should also note, that it will all be 0 gauge wiring ofcoarse.

a 90 amp alternator and 2600rms is NOT a good combo.

1)ditch the capacitors, they are just hiding your problem

2)get a couple nice sized batteries (for that much wattage, a stocker under the hood with a kinetik1800 in the truck would be awesome)

3) get a HO alternator soon. That 90 amp will hold up for a little while, but you wont see the full potential of your system, and you'll probably burn that alternator up after some abuse.

Thanks a ton for this info friend, also thease subs are to be replaced with the XL models.

i have no doubt that they will be able to handle 1300 RMS each, MA audio are heavy duty subs and extremely under-rated. ive seen them in person handle insane amount of wattage.

now what do you guys recommend about my box ? should i leave it the way it is or put a bottom on it and cut the cubic feet down to like 8-10 in total? right now its around 16-20cu, does not have a bottom and uses the spare tire wheel well.

my installer says putting a bottom on it will really bring out that punch and depth, so i am inclinded to belive him.

so for now i should go for 2nd battery, and then call powermaster right now basicly and have them start making me a 140amp alt?

thanks guys, i will have video of the install before/after and everything.

im exited to see how this beast sounds when it awakes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if you're planning to beat on it a lot you will need an HO alt w/o a doubt.

You could probably get by if you baby it, but nobody babies 2600w and a pair of 18's.

BTW - wtf to you mean by 20 square feet. Do you mean cubic feet?

FWIW - the trunk of the LHS is only 19 cf if you use every posssible bit of space.

And how do you build a box w/o a bottom? Don't you think there will be a LOT of leakage??

That would HAVE to sound like *** especially considering the level of pressure 18's are going to produce.

Some people spend hours caulking all the joints of their boxes to keep them air tight.

yes i mean Cubic feet, not square sorry. useda lay hardwood still got those measurements stuck in my head lol.

the box is probably around 15 CU , it is massive. it uses the spare wheel well, and yes there are probably alot of leaks. it doesnt hit high notes very well, but when it goes deep in songs like, hail marry from tupac or some other stuff with real low notes the hole car shakes, and they are only getting a measly 300rms each right now.

would it be better to get my box sealed up ? im just worried im going to loose that real deep feel they produce.

(look for my other posts if u want to see how my box is setup)

and yeah they will be pounded alot. I cannot get a HO alternator right now, i called powermaster and they said they have to build one for me.

thats 3-6 months, could i have 2 90 amp alternators working in unision?

it sucks that the aftermarket alternator selection for crystler LHS's is very limited lol.

so on thursday, should i go for another battery, and get another alternator hooked up running in unison with my existing one ? my mechanic already said this was an option when i took it to him to inquire about alternators.

as of right now, he has me scheduled for a amp swap & re-wiring of everything, and box work. I let him know completely what type of alternator i have and he said shouldnt be a problem, should i have them wire up a 2nd battery in the trunk ?

this plus a 2nd alternator would be enough no ? ( Also would a sealed or ported box be better for 18's )

Just so you know, that amp will not put out 2600 watts. Its good for a solid 1800-2000 depending on your electrical. Still a very solid amp for the money. Just wanted to let you know.

well then that should be a little bit of a break on the electrical system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i will have video of b4/after/the install everything.

stay tunned guys !

boy are you lost. MA audio does not make quality equipment. you can have a alternator made for your car and it wont take 2-3 months.

Leaks in your box does not = getting good lows, you dont want ANY leaks.

put a "bottom" on you box and make sure everything is sealed tight, im assuming you have a ported box due to the size.

thease are old subs, they are big and beefy like 2001 era. MA audio useda make good woofers i dont know about now, but ive seen first hand how they move.

anyways, as the install is tomarow i need to know 3 major things.

1. should i get a 2nd battery installed or a 2nd capacitor ( in the drunk oviously )

2. should i have them make me a total 10cu sealed box (optimum size x2)

3. or should they make me a ported box for my subs.

i am sorry i am a newb, i dont know why new people always get treated so bad im just trying to figure out basic things so i can get this gear dropped in my **** car.

now, if i have 2 batterys, and a capacitor, with a 90 amp altenator will i be able to get away with that long enough while i have an alternator built for my car ?

please answer thease questions simply, thanks everybody who has not taken a stuck-up attitude towards this post.

amp installed, he did not change the wiring going to my subs to 0 gauge? i suspect this is normal?

also, it is wiried down at 2ohms right now, so it is not taking as big of a tole on my electrical system, everything seems to be fine so when i return on monday, for some custom box work to finish that, they are going to hook it up full 1ohm.

the amp pounds extremely hard even with the crappy box setup i have right now. I cannot wait until it is sealed up.

BTW the subs eat the amp's power no problem.

Uh.... what country are you in?

Is that LEGAL?
british columbia canada, and yes it is legal since i have a medicinal card from my doctor allowing me to smoke pot, i have epilepsy and marijuana cures all the nasty side effects i get from my medicine. Its either smoke pot, and take 1 type of pill or take around 3 differant types of meds, 1 of witch can give you a fatal skin rash so i stuck with smoking pot, and taking the simpler meds. Since i smoked pot since i was 16, now i am just legal to grow/possess it. So yes. Its legal, You want to see my medicinal papers ?

can we get back on topic...
