Gas with 10% ethanol = Bad gas mileage

So I went to Wal-Mart and filled up about a week and a half ago... And Before

I was getting like 14-15 mpg in town with non ethanol gas, and Whenever I filled

up at Wal-Mart and drove all that gas out, It didnt last near as long as the gas

from the regular gas station. So I figured the miles I drove with the trip meter and how many gallons it took to fill up And I was astonished I was getting 11.1 miles to the gallon with that 10% ethanol crap:crap:... I new that the government was wanting to use the 10% ethanol to help out with emissions, But my god, If it causes you to get less miles per gallon...Wouldn't that cause you to pollute the air just as much because your having to burn more gas in the end anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Here is one of the searches I did, Im not the only one with this problem

yep ethanol has less energy potential then gasoline, its basically the oil companies "jewing" you.....

Yeah, same here. A little cheaper for the e85, but not as efficient as regular gasoline.

yeah some local places around here have signs saying pure gas. they are usually like 10 cents higher than others

On some of the vintage motorcycle forums I'm on, they maintain listings of stations that sell non-E10 gas. That stuff sucks with carburated engines.

Ethanol provides less energy than gas BY VOLUME. But, if you set up an engine to run off it by doubling the injector rates, you can get much more power out of ethanol and run much cooler. You just have to set up your fuel system so it doesn't corrode, since it is very corrosive.

It is cheaper, but it takes much more to make the power of gasoline.

I dont know, But you would think before to long that it will be a requirement for all the gas stations to only sell 10% ethanol... Because of the so-called Global Warming issue

Actually, I think the govt is beginning to realize that enthanol was a bad idea. Not to say they won't try something else.

Yup they charge the same for ethanol gas here, get worse mileage to boot. If they want to sell it to me for like $0.25/litre less, I would think about buying it.
