I have two dual 4 ohm 12 inch cvrs wired up at 1 ohm with a pioneer amp that pushes 800w rms at 1 ohm. My subs are in a prefab ported box that is pretty close to specs(.08 cubic fee smaller than rec ported box size) and the port is supposedly tuned to 35-37 hz. When I first installed my subs I set the gain with a DMM, but decided that I wanted a bit more bass so I turned the xplod eq preset on my cheap sony head unit. Soon there after I turned the sub accentuation up to +8 and the low setting on my 3 band head unit eq to +6. My main question is would I be better off pulling the gain up a little higher instead of messing around with so much eqing( I've heard that eqing introduces distortion in some cases). My subs sound ok to me how they are, and they're definitely loud and shake the my tiny truck (ford ranger ext. cab). My question is would bumping up the gain a bit sound better than doing all that eqing. Thanks for any help, and yes I know that cvrs are not that great of subs.
