Gain Setting with LOC and DMM

whats up guys?

So..... Im having trouble setting up my gain with my setup. Currently, i have an LOC taped into the front speakers, and on my head unit, i have bass control from -6 to +6. Because of the LOC, this effects BOTH the sub and my door speakers. My normal setting is +4 because this is where the door speakers sound best without distortion. My amp is an audiopipe 1000W RMS at 1ohm connected to a soundqubed HDS210 1200W Peak. When i do the math, the output voltage comes out to 31.62V. Now, this is where i am confused. if i set my HU to 0 bass, 25 volume (as loud as it can get without distortion), and set the gain to 31.62v, then set the bass on the HU back to my normal +4, voltage coming out of the amp goes up to about 45V. if i set HU to +6, voltage hits 50V. i know this is normal behavior, however, every guide i read says to set the bass at 0, THEN adjust gain on the amp until it gets to the correct voltage. but by doing that, voltage is WAY higher then it should be. BTW, im setting this all up using a 50Hz 0db Test tone on youtube off my phone which is close to max volume.

My question is this: Because i have an LOC and my normal listening level is at +4 bass on the head unit, should i still set bass on HU to 0, and then gain to 31.62V, or should i set bass on HU to +4 and then set the gain on the amp to 31.62?

For showing off, i do set bass on HU to +6 and my volume to 25, but this is for maybe 5 mins MAX. though more often, i will put HU at 25, but leave bass at +4 (normal level)

How should i set this up?
