Gain Setting - Read Sticky Already

Alright I'm purchasing 2 eD NINe.2x amps. They are rated as follows:

600W x 1 @ 1 Ohm

200W x 2 @ 4 Ohms

300W x 2 @ 2 Ohms

Amp1 will be powering a set of 11Kv.2's. I'm going to wire them at the 300W x 2 @ 2 Ohms. (Reason: 2 Seperate sealed boxes, divided by an amp rack)

Amp2 will be powering a set of eD 6500s Components. I want to run them at 150w RMS @ 4 Ohms, even though the amp will put out 200W RMS @ 4 Ohms.

Here's the numbers I came up with to set the gains properly:

AMP1 = SQRT(300x2) = 24.5 Volts

AMP2 = SQRT(150x4) = 24.5 Volts

Now my question is, how do I actually go about doing this? Set my head unit to about 90% volume, play a 50Hz test tone, and crank up the gain on the sub amp until I get a reading of 24.5 Volts? Then do the same thing with the component amp, but play a 1Khz test tone?

Where do I take the reading from? I'm assuming I disconnect the speakers from the amp, and plug the testing leads into the amp like I was wiring a speaker to it?

Finally, I would set the EQ on the HU to my desire after the gains are set? And yes, I did read the guide. For someone who has never really had any clue how to setup a car properly, it doesn't make much sense.

Excellent, that's what I was looking for! If it helps any, I'll be using a Pioneer-860MP as my HU.

Now it's all down to my patience level...have to wait til I get my tax return to do all this.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
