fuse size

Chart.jpg

The chart displayed is for selecting wire guage, not fuse size.

Wires need to be thicker over longer runs to avoid voltage drops. The chart shows what wire guage should be used for a given current, to keep voltage drop to an acceptable level.

Fuses have nothing to do with voltage drop; they're intended to keep the ampacity of the wire from being exceeded. Ampacity is the amount of current the wire can handle safely, without regard to voltage drop; and the ampacity of a 20 foot piece of wire is the same as a 1 foot piece. The fuse just has to blow before the insulation melts. The length of the wire isn't relevant.
