Fuse size

I have a 300w amplifier for my sub and the fuse rating is "20A x 2". Does that mean I should use a 40A for the inline between the amp and the battery. I got a wiring kit with a 60A, can I use that or would that cause problems?

id use a 30a fuse

60A is fine.

300w @ 12v and 70% efficiency pulls 35 amperes

The battery to amp power wire fuse it to protect the wire and the car, not the amp. The amp has its own fuse to protect it. Use the fuse that came with your wiring kit and you'll be fine.
