fuse size for nine.1

purchasing an ANL fuse holder in the next few days to complete the wiring for the new setup and wondering what size should i get to fuse for a nine.1 amp.

its got 4x30 so 120 so should i fuse with a 100 amp fuse so that it will blow when it reaches 100 amps and keep the amp safe?

and 4 gauge im assuming is fine?

The fuses on the amp are meant to protect the amp. The fise on the wire is meant to protect the wire from melting. 4awg should be fine with that amp and you can fuse up to 150A which is what 4awg is rated at I believe.

i have always thought that the fuse on the wire kept to strong of a current from gettin to the amp to prevent ruing it...thanks for the fast reply..gotta go pick up my fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No, the fuses on the amp are meant to protect it from excess amperage. Now, if the amp is not fused like the Orion 2500d's and other similar amps, then when you fuse your power wire you want to fuse at a lvl that would protect the amp, get me?

i use a 150 amp anl fuse for my nine.1 i hope that will be enough if i ever run it at 1 ohm. i have yet to blow one of them but i think 100 amp will not suffice.

How would it not? The amp will only pull 120A at full output, which you will never receive unless you short it out or you are burping your system the right way. Even at max volume, you probably would not be pulling near 120A. And also, if you DID happen to pull 120A, the 100A fuse would probably not blow unless the draw extended for a period of over 1-2s, which would be even more unlikely than it even pulling 120A in the first place. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You're right, it cannot hurt, but you said :

i hope that will be enough if i ever run it at 1 ohm. i have yet to blow one of them but i think 100 amp will not suffice.
And I simply clarified that it wouldnt matter [in nearly all cases] if you had a 100A or a 150A fuse because the amp would not pull 120A anyways. And even if it did, and you had a 100A fuse, the burt would not last long enough to open the 100A fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
