Fuse requirements

Okay. When I ordered my distribution block, I overlooked the fact that I bought this FUSED distribution block: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=BC-1428 , instead of a regular distribution block, and now I need fuses. Knukonceptz sells 80amp fuses, and I'm wondering if that's enough for my setup, which is:

4 gauge wire with 150amp fuse at the battery, which runs to the distribution block in the trunk, which will split into 2x 8gauge leading to my 600w mono amp, and my 350w 2 channel amp.

Should I buy the 80amp fuses, or return this and buy a regular distribution block with no fuses?

The Cadence is either 2x20amp or 1x40amp (I don't have it yet, arrives Friday).

The JBL is 3x40amp.

Nothing more than 60amp? Can going too high damage something?

Can going too high damage something?

if you put too big a fuse in wire that can't handle it then you risk melting the wire

causing a short and possibly a fire. Fuses are in place for a reason, to protect

the wire and components in case of a short

Alright then. I looked at the manual for the JBL 600.1, and it says the max amps it draws is 57amps. Considering that's a mono amp, I'm guessing the Cadence draws even less, so 2x 60amp fuses should be good. Now if only Knukonceptz didn't charge 5 dollar shipping for 70 cent fuses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

As big as Milwaukee is I'd reckon you've got a Radio Shack, a Circuit City, a Best Buy or something similar around? They might charge 4 or 5 dollars apiece for the fuses but you could get 'em now while spending the same $$ rather than waiting for them to get shipped.

Well I don't need them right away, I just find the shipping costs pretty sad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
