fuse rating size for ANL holder

I have 0 ga. all the way to my trunk to my second battery. Which has a stinger 250 ANL fuse from the first battery. Two optima red tops, 250 amp stinger relay make up my charging system. I have the big3 upgrade with only 4 ga. and i seem to melt the 80 amp AGU fuse(not the whole fuse, just the element). I believe it is from trying to draw to much current through that small of a rated fuse. I am wanting to upgrade this wiring also to 0 ga... What size of fuse rating should I use for this ANL holder?

I have a 180 amp hi-output alt. Not nearly large enough for what i need but its what i can afford to get by with. I have 2- audiobahn 1500hct with a fuse rating of 120 each. Also a audiobahn 4601q with a 40 amp fuse rating. So a total of 280 amp fuse ratings. I have a fused distro. block coming off the second battery with an 80 amp fuse goin to each 1500 hct and a 60 goin for the 4601q.

Thats another question, DO i need to run a larger fuses coming off the second battery to the 1500 hct amps(like maybe 100 or so ANL fuse) And of course the first question, What size ANL fuse for the big 3 upgrade with 0ga. Those are my two questions? Any help is appreciated

Hope the paragraph spacing helps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif

I'm not sure if that was one run-on sentence... so I'll point this out:

Fuse for the capacity of the wire. If the Wire can carry 430amps, fuse it @ 400. If it can carry 170, fuse it @ 150. Etc.

I saw periods and other punctuation in there - so it wasn't a run-on.

Paragraph spacing, however...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

**** honors english.

So since I'm using stinger 0ga., i should use at least a 250 amp ANL fuse so to protect my WIRE. That solves my big3 upgrade fuse ?.

Now should i do away with my AGU fused distro. block or will the amps still be able to pull the current it needs through the 80 amp fuses. It's my understanding once there is a surge of current greater than the fuse rating it will blow? correct. So if my amp will draw a 120 amps only on peak music spikes, would i need to upgrade to a 100 amp ANL fuse for each amp? Seeing how there aren't any 100 amp AGU fuses to my knowledge
