1989 Buick Riviera Install?

So I saw an '89 Riveria today, and it had this wacky touch screen HU. I didn't notice if it had any climate controls worked in to it, but exactly how would you go about replacing that with an aftermarket deck? I mean, you could always get an amp with line level inputs, or a line level converter, but I'd much rather have all the extra features from an aftermarket deck. The opening for that touch screen looks a little small too.. anyone ever do an install on one of these?

There are many problems with those touch screens.

My dad has a 91 riveria... the front speakers are a pain in the rear to get at
