Need Help with Wiring EQPT...help

Hey Guys,

Need help choosing wiring for my install, and rather buying from the installer, I think it would be smarter if I had my own wiring. So what do you guys suggest? All my equipment is listed in Sig. Don't know too much about wiring but I'm pretty sure I need some big stuff. Do I get an amp kit or what? Do I need to start out with 0 guage then get a 0 to 4 gauge distribution block? My VGA1600.2 has 2 power and 2 ground terminals. Should I just run the power and ground into the 1600 and then out to the VGA600.2 or should I go right from the distribution block into both amps? I don't want to spend a lot of money on wiring but then again I don't want to go with cheap wiring. What do you guys recommend? Speaker wire comes with the kits? 14 gauge or something will suffice? Can you guys provide links? Should I go with ebay? I've heard people going with Walmart too, will that due?

Also, the fuse requirments for the 600.2 is 80 amp max fuse rating and the 1600.2 is a 90 amp max fuse rating. So what do I get one fuse? At 170 or 180 amps?

Any help would be appriciated, I'm trying to get this installed this weekend.

Thanks

Jordan

Go with 1/0 from the battery to a distro. Split it to three 4ga's. (two for the 1600, one for 600). Get a 250A fuse for the main line. Get a fused distro with 80-100A fuses for the other lines. Fuses are ment to protect the wire from over draw. Each size wire has its limitations... 1/0 is 350A, 4ga is 150A. Ground with 4ga.

I doubt if you will find one kit with all of this without paying out the ***. You can try ebay and walmart.. but its going to be hard to find something like this because it is so specific.

If you want to wait another week or so, I can build you a custom kit. PM me if your interested.

Hey thanks man,

I need 2 power inputs for the VGA1600.2? I thought it was to link another amp to it?

I don't really need a kit built for me I just need to know where and what to get. I'll buy individual wires if I have to, just need to know my best options. How much do you think all this will cost?

So you also need to put fuses after the distribution block on the 4 gauge wires? I thought you just needed one by the battery.

- I doubt if the second power port on the 1600 is a pass through, unless it specifically says it is. There are some amps that like to have two seperate powerlines.

- The fused distro protects the smaller wires from overdraw (shorts). The main line is capable of handling up to 350A of power. The smaller 4ga lines are capable of handling 150A. If the main fuse won't pop until 200A or so, that means the smaller lines have already lit on fire if you get overdraw. Which is why, at the distro, you add a second set of fuses to protect the lines after the distro.

- For cost. It all depends on what you use and where you get it. I would say anywhere from $75 to $200. There are tons of extras that you can get which will jack up the price even more.

- Those kits on ebay are ok, although only one of them has 4ga with the kit.. which is really what you need for those amps. The other only has 8ga.

Hope that helps, you may just want to go to like sound domain and build yourself a kit. See how much it'll cost you.. and if its too much, give me a hollar and I'll get you one.

How's this:

2- Stinger 100a ANL fuses

1- Stinger HPM Series SHD2ANL Fuse Distribution Block(voltimeter)

1- Stinger Custom Pro SWK0 Amplifier Wiring Kit- comes with just about everything but speaker wire. Included a Distr Blk holder and a 250a ANL fuse.

I can get all this for 147.80 shipped off ebay and sound domain has this for 147.80 + shipping+ tax.

What do you think?

Good?
