Fuse question

okay guys i have a question for all you smart ppl out there! here is the scenario

we are in my buddies car, and he is running 2 rf p2 subs, 250rmn each duel 4 subs. he is using an sony mono-block amp to push both of them. he is using 8gauge wire and a 40amp inline fuse in the 8gauge wire.

so we put in a bigger amp fuse and to my astonasiment the subs didnt' hit hard at all. they hit at half the power and all i did was put a bigger fuse in.

so i went back and put the 40amp fuse in. anyone have an idea why it sounds better and much louder with a 40amp fuse??

like seriously it didn't sound at all and the subs didn't move at all, and with a big 80amp fuse in it it made the light dim in the interior! i was like wtf i necer head of this!

Why would you add a biger fuse anyways 80 amps is to big for 8 gauge wire

No its like 50-55

But if its working fine with the 40 amp fuse what is the point of changing it. And I have no clue why it did that when you put an 80amp fuse in there. You probably screwed something up

lol probaly screwed something out but then i put the 40 back in and it worked fine and back to normal! so i don't know. any idea's off hand? anyone?

ok, putting a bigger fuse in ur power wire is not going to "super charge" ur system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

if you want it to be louder you are going to need to upgrade the amp and the power wire..

rule of thumb:

fuse accordingly to how many and what size fuses are on the amp....
