hi ive seen to have a problem with my amp or sub need sum advice please ive got a 12"alphasonik sub in a ported box and a 1000watt kenwood amp powering it and when i turn the sound up loud the fuse blows straight away can anybody give me a clue as to whats goin on????thanks

which fuse is it? is it the fuse on the amp? or is it the inline fuse on the powe wire?

if it's the amp's fuse, unplug the speaker connections and turn the amp on. if it blows then there could be something wrong with the amp.

if your inline fuse is blowing then you may have a short in the line or your power wire is grounding out somewhere.

it would blow instantly whether the amp was powered up or not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

OP - what size power wire are you running and what are the fuse ratings on the amp?

it is the fuse on the amp it seems to be since ive got this sub tho cos it was fine with my old pioneer sub i aint sure what gauge the wire is i'll check it in the mornin and get back to u on that one

negative. i had a guy ask me to check his amp cause his inline fuse keep poping. turned out his power wire was laying on the manifold and the jacket had melted allowing it to ground out. the fuses wouldn't instantly pop, they would take a while for them to pop. he would turn replace the fuse, listen to some music then it would just pop again within 5 minutes.

In that case it was shifting around on the manifold and wasn't always making contact. Had nothing to do with the system being powered up.

Might have the impedance too low. What coils do you have and how are they wired?

not sure what u mean pal im not a expert on car audio i got somebody to fit everything for me one thing i have heard is that it mite not be a good enuff amp for the sub somebody told me that u need a certain kind of amp is this true????

If it's the fuse that is on the amp, it is a problem with the amp itself or the way the sub is wired.

What exact sub and amp do you have, links would be helpful.
