Fuse Help

Is the fuse on the power wire from the battery to the amp just to protect the wire or is it to protect the amp? Do I need a different size fuse depending on what amp I have? I have a KnuKnocepts 4 gauge wiring kit that came with an 80 amp fuse and I have a Cadence TXA-3002 that I will be running 600 watts at 4 ohms in bridged mode so will this fuse be fine or do I need a new one? Also my amp has 2 25 amp fuses built into it if that means anything and I already tried looking in the manual and on the Cadence website but couldnt find anything.

The inline fuse is to protect the wire in the case of a short circuit. The fuses in the amp are to protect the amp from a short circuit. Both are needed. The 80A inline fuse is perfectly fine for that setup.

For the most part i agree with what loopkiller said. In my opinion though i always fuse to the lower of the two but because your amp has built in fuses i would say it is up to you on what to do.
