ok guys....need your help on this...tell me if the fuses are too low in amps..or too much.....

- Stinger FUSE HOLDER - ANL FUSE(60 A)

- stinger fused distribution block - 2x (50A) midi fuses - [ this will be powering a JL 500/1 AND A JL 300/4]

the wire is a 0 GAUGE split into (2) 4 gauge by the distribution block to power the JLs...and the sub is 12'w6v2. Should i put large AMPS on the fuse holders...or thats enough? please tell how much i need or if thats enough...thanks guys...

yeah the fuse holder near the battery holds 60 A fuse.....then my fused distribution block holds two 50 A fuses for the 2 amps. How much should i change them too?

i was thinking of puttin 300A (ANL) on the fuse holder and then two 150 AMP midi fuses on the distribution block.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif ....isnt it a little too much? but the JL amps recommend a 50 A Fuse

I would put a 250-300 on the 0 gauge, and 125-150 on the 4 gauge. In case you ever upgrade to larger amplifiers, you won't have to get bigger fuses.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

isnt it dangerous to put bigger fuses? i hear if its a short circuit or anything the wires can catch on wire really fast, since its bigger fuses?

I'm just saying you are generally supposed to fuse the power wire for the maximum amount of current that can be drawn through it continuously. You do not fuse the power wire for the current that the amp can pull, although I guess you could and it would work fine, but the amp has its own protection on it.

If they're not blowing, there's no reason at all to change them. What's the point of buying new fuses now just in case you might have to do it later?

It's rare, but I've seen one case where a wire was cut at the firewall, enough to cause a battery drain but not enough to blow the fuse (it was a 100-amp fuse on a 4-gauge wire). Possibly a smaller fuse would have blown instead of allowing the battery to drain.

Word. Excelllent point.

Just because the wire is capable of supplying a lot more than 100A there's no point in putting a giant fuse on (even though it's 1/0) if the amps can only draw 100A at the most. No point whatsoever.

With wire that oversized, using a fuse closer to the size req'd by the amps just means more insurance if there ever is a short in the wire.
