Fuse for 4/0?

More importantly, good luck find fuse holders and ring terminals.

I'd say use the fuse size for the rating of the wire... Check the charts on BCAE
Running 4/0 in a car is useless.

1/0 can handle ~4kw on a good electrical (300A.) Add multiple runs of quality 1/0 and you can have all the power you'll need.

they do make 4/0 fuse holders .....ANN fuses go up to 500 amps usually

BUT your in the super overkill zone not too mention spending alot of money

on cable and parts that are hard to work with and not needed

My 4/0 wires were cheaper then any of the 1/0 i could find in the area car audio shops. The ring terminals were also easy to find.I had to cut the fuse holders cap a little bit but it works. The only problem is going to be crimping the terminals, soldering is much easyer.I agree 4/0 is over kill for a thousand watts.I got 4/0 so i dont have to worry about the wire when i switch amps.Maybe he ment 4Ga and not 4/0 just a thought

Weldingsupply.com for the crimper. Type in 840l in the search. Lenco sledge tool.

Blue Sea Systems makes larger ANL type fuses. You can usually find up to 500 amp ones on Ebay.

If you get 4/0 cheaper than 1/0, then its not overkill and its not unnecessary. Sometimes doing one run of bigger wire is cheaper and takes up less space or around the same than multiple runs of smaller wire, while still carrying the same, if not more current.

Now here's some flixible stuff
