Fuse caught on Fire

WHen I go on long road trips, say like an hour or more my amps obviously get very hot beucase I have to play the music loud to get over the road noise. I have a hiconics bx1000d and a MTX RT2200.

I have not had any problem with my hifonics amp ever and I have been running it for 2 years.

Now when my MTX runs for awhile the fuse tends to catch of fire! and not blow, why is that. This has happened twice now, and both time I have had to take apart the amp to dig out the fuse fragments. I wanna build an amp rack and put a fan on it but I dont have anytime beucase I just moved to UCF and I dont have any of my tools. THe metal around the fuse holder is all melted, but hey it still works, this amp is a **** trooper. Ill try to get pics up

are you proud that your car almost caught on fire and could possibly have blown up? what size fuse and guage wire are you using?

better get to the bottom of the issue befor your car catches on fire. maybe adding a higher fuse?

I didn't think he came off as sounding proud... He just wanted to know why his fuse kept catching on fire instead of blowing. He then states that the amp is a trooper because it has survived so long.

first off stop using that amp.

then get a new amp

then get a warranty with ur new amp.

First of all the amp was free( I got it as payment for doing an install) I dosent really catch on "fire" the fuse just gets so hot that it melts itself inside the fuse holder and its a b itch to get out, I am more carefull with the amp now I dont play it really loud for extened periods anymore

your fuse holder melted and you are still running the amp? what size wire and fuse do you have?

30 amp its runs at 50x2 at 4 ohm

what size wire? something is wrong if you are metling a fuse holder and i would advise you fix it before running the amp again.
