Fuse Blows When Connecting Power Wire To Battery

Like in the Title, my power wire fuse blows when connecting the power wire to the battery. My amp was hooked up while doing this, with the ground in and the power wire in. All of this done with my car turned off. Anyone know whats going on?

check all over all power connecions sounds like u havea short something might be grounding off

Why is the fuse in when your connecting the wire to the battery in the first place?

Connect the wire first then put the fuse in with pliers that has a rubber grip or something.

1) Make sure your ground is secured to bare metal

2) Check your power wire and ground wire for any cuts or slits where a wire might be hanging out and grounding out

could you be more specific on something being grounded off, like the wires through the car are touching metal or something?

and i dunno if i can use pliers with a ANL fuse that im running right now.

Thats exactly what he means, make sure you didn't peirce the power wire somewhere

would it matter if it wasnt pierced and the protective plastic part was touching metal, ill go look but the power wire is brand new.

My best guess is that your power wire is grounding out.Did you use a gromet through the firewall?Other than that, make sure it's not being pinched anywhere or any stray strands are touching anything.

hmmm yeah i think it might be because im not using a grommet

Aren't you supposed to disconnect the negative cable from the battery? And hook that up last?

Thats the way I always do it. Never had any problems.

That metal will cut through that jacket, and once it makes contact with the wire itself . . .

ok now it could be a wire touching the ground, and the wire touching hte fire wall hole, is there any other factors that can come into play, like my amplifier or battery?

Take the fuse out before you hook it up the battery. That might help.
