The point of the fuse is to keep a live wire out of the cabin where it could spark and cause a fire. With a Battery under the hood and a rear bank of batteries there should be a fuse at the front battery and one inline at the rear (to cut power at both ends in case of accident)
When you have a rear battery and you add a third right next to it, there is no need to fuse due to the short distance. In the even of an accident (rear end) the battery bank would probably gound itself, so a pinched wire would be the least of your concern at that point
