Going Fast with Class
My setup is listed below. I'm currently looking to make an improvement in my front stage. The little 3.5" in the dash are just lousy. My ultimate goal is to go with horns under the dash and mids in custom kicks. Since that's not in the budget for a while I'm looking to do something for now. My music is mostly Classic Rock and Country. I know I need some definate reinforcement in the midbass up front. Here are two options I came up with.
Option 1 : Keep the 3.5s in their current factory locations, and build my kicks now to accomidate a 6" Dayton RS (Or something similar in performance/price, I'm open to suggestions.) Run a crossover setup sending the approprate signals to their recpective speakers. (I could use suggestions on crossover points and passive vs. active.)
Option 2 : Loose the 3.5" from the dash. Build my kicks and install the 6.5" Infinity Kappa 3-ways (older green cones out of my daily driver) I'm assuming aiming would be more critical here due to the tweeters being relocated into the kicks.
Cutting into the door panels for the mids is not an option due to replacement cost/availability.
Got any other ideas?
