Front stage help needed

My setup is listed below. I'm currently looking to make an improvement in my front stage. The little 3.5" in the dash are just lousy. My ultimate goal is to go with horns under the dash and mids in custom kicks. Since that's not in the budget for a while I'm looking to do something for now. My music is mostly Classic Rock and Country. I know I need some definate reinforcement in the midbass up front. Here are two options I came up with.

Option 1 : Keep the 3.5s in their current factory locations, and build my kicks now to accomidate a 6" Dayton RS (Or something similar in performance/price, I'm open to suggestions.) Run a crossover setup sending the approprate signals to their recpective speakers. (I could use suggestions on crossover points and passive vs. active.)

Option 2 : Loose the 3.5" from the dash. Build my kicks and install the 6.5" Infinity Kappa 3-ways (older green cones out of my daily driver) I'm assuming aiming would be more critical here due to the tweeters being relocated into the kicks.

Cutting into the door panels for the mids is not an option due to replacement cost/availability.

Got any other ideas?

Someone has got to have an opinion on this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Anyway, I want to get thei project under way. I currently have the entire interior torn out to take care of a few issues, along with a bunch of deadening materials going in. 60 sq. ft. of Raamat, 84 sq. ft. of ensolite, 4 gallons of spectrum, and 2 gallong of sludge to be exact. I'll get a seperate post going on that work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sell everything you could possibly sell, drop off a few deposits at the sperm bank if necessary, and then buy some speakers that will make building kickpanels worthwhile.

That's my suggestion.

Look used and you can find some pretty good deals on great speakers. $200-$250 used will take you a long way.....

Richard Clarke's Grand National from back in the day had horns up front with the mids in the REAR doors. Course he basically built everything from scratch or had it custom made....including the HU //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I've checked out pics of that Speaker Works car lots of times, Really amazing work.

I know I'm working with some low budget stuff here. I'm just trying to make an improvement of now. I could use a higher quality mid like the ID CX62 and integrate that into option 1 and keep them once I arrive at my goal setup. I just can't affoard the added cost of horns and required processing power at this time. I'm just concerned that it would work with the 3.5's in the dash. Basically I would be crossing over between the mids and 3.5s just like I would be between the mids and horns.
