Front or door mounted subs? SQ

I bought an Eclipse CD8454 last week and hooked it all up. It sounds pretty good but not good enough on pro mode.

I was thinking about getting rid of my Xtant 12 and getting some smaller subs to mount up front. The problem is the only ones I have seen that are small enough are Focals. These are fine but I was wondering if there are any other small high quality subs that would work?

I'm new to the SQ set up thing so any advise would be appreciated.

Current set up:

Eclipse CD8454 HU

Eclipse 5 1/4 Components (X-over on the HU)

Eclipse PA5422 4 channel

Xtant X1244 sub

what kind of car? and try a 180 flip of your subs

Tang Band has a small 6.5" subwoofer. Resonant Engineering and Adire Audio both have high excursion 6.5's that can be used as small subs. JL Audio had the 6w0, which was a small 6" sub. Another option would be to find somewhere to mount a single 8"....those are widely available.

Why exactly do you want to squeeze a small sub upfront? Just curious of your motivation behind it.

My car is a 98 Concorde.

I was thinking about the front mounted subs because the bass sounds separate from the rest of the music (Don't know if that make sense). There is also way to much high freq. I still have to mess with the Parametric EQ. I have no idea where to start. The microphone that came with the HU is not working correctly.

I am not new to car audio, only to the SQ set up part of it. I have done 5 or 6 cars but mostly just factory positions F,R and Sub.

Before you give up, try messing with the xover points, polarity, level matching, etc. All of that stuff can "give away" the location of the sub, or atleast not make it blend properly. Even excessive rattles in the rear can cause that problem.

unless sumthing is totally jacked id say just the polarity should do it
