For those of you who drive stick...

I've been driving stick everyday for 5 years and I'm sick of it. But that's because it's a slow truck. If you get a fun car then it will be more tolerable. But driving stick in traffic sucks no matter what car it is.
then you are inexperienced....I hate having to stand on the brake all the **** time in auto's, especially in traffic. Engine braking is great!

After driving a stick for the last 10 years or so, I personally can't stand the lag in automatic transmission shifting. Even titronic shifting has this annoying lag that you don't have in a manual car. If all you ever drive is auto, you wouldn't notice it, but once you've gotten used to manual, you notice it right away. My commuter is also manual. Better gas mileage and I prefer having the control.
yea tiptronics GAY, I would rather just have a full auto and not worry about it at all than play with that **** stick, and they charged my mom extra on her insurance because they said the tiptronic was "sport oriented". Just get the standard and have fun man, after a while you wont even notice it

I love getting behind some big rigs when stuck in traffic. so much easier to leave in 1rst and coast and just use a little brake while still in gear.

Any other spot and you have people in auto's smashing on the brake then smashing on the gas. Stop and go. No smoother constant pace.

yeah god forbid you cant eat or text while driving cause of a manual *****....haha

i can text...just find the right gear and cruise....i mean texting in rush hour traffic would be dam near impossible but you never know

exactly!! put it in a gear and let it idle.

can you not drive stick when your drunk? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
As bad as this sounds I can drive stick while talking on the phone, smoking a cigarette, and drinking a pop. If I saw a chick doing that I'd snap but I can pull it off.

Haha me too.

I can text in rush hour too, but i try not too. It's dangerous.

Manuals are fine, and so are autos. It really depends on the car. All cars aren't ment to be sticks. For instance, larger cars.

You mean larger cars with underpowered engines?

I don't see how the size of the car matters if there's appropriate gearing and power.

If that were the case, why are all big trucks manual?

Most of the cars I've ever owned were manual transmissions. It's not bad to learn how and like others have said, it becomes second nature. If your looking for a performance car, avoid heavy duty clutches because they are like an on/off switch. Unfortunately if you plan on heavy engine mods your basically required to go with a less-friendly clutch, so just choose wisely.

I've learned to appriciate an automatic transmission. I'd say my next will be an auto (something in the luxury touring field).

I've had:

1987 Cavalier Z24 5-speed

1993 Camaro Z28 6-speed

1998 Camaro SS 6-speed

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII 5-speed

and....

my lowly 1992 Geo Prizm AUTOMATIC that I love so dearly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Either way you'll be fine
