For those of us with mini trucks....

I had 4 x 15's upfiring in my old suburban, years ago, and anything above 45hz seemed to be much > my subs... I stood the box up and lost low end, but at least it sounded more "even" in response.

You can buy the Dayton port parts from Parts Express that are 4" with a flare on the outside and inside and they have tubes and elbows (smooth 90's) availible to make the ports as long as you need them. I was told to keep ports at least a port diameter (4") from any other structure to prevent adding an additional wind noise... Though I have found in my own install, that port noise is not very audible at all in a reg cab truck, with the port on the side of the sub box because it's so far behind the seat and all that you can't hear the noise. Just my experience with my ported truck box... i know yours is ext cab, you are luckly but watch the port size because you could get lots of audible port noise since there is nothing there to block/diffuse the noise (like the seat does in a reg cab...) 4 x 4" is probably more than adequate to defeat port noise for 2 12" subs... I believe you did say 12" DP's.... 4x4" might be a min for 2 x 15's though.... getting close to making some port noise with high power...
I got a lot of port noise in my reg cab truck with a single 3'' aero. It went away when I added a second 3'' though. But this was firing up and the port was inbetween the seats and not in a corner.

Positive... metered it?
Won't be as loud...

He said "sounded better" not louder... Does making louder always make it sound better also? LOL maybe to a hardcore SPL comp guy I guess.... My subs sounded much better forward firing than they did facing up...

"Jimbo" a world record holder in SPL comp from here in Texas (Bryan) has 3 x 15" RD's below the window line in his ext cab S10, subs facing forward and a long slot port across the top backedge of the box (just below the window is the slot port at the back of the box)....

thats the box design I was talking about...but aero's look so much more clean, and i am the suckage at building boxes lol

If you take a router to the slot edge and even go as far as to fiberglass it, it looks great... That (Jimbo's setup) is a "record winning" box setup in ALOT of competitors ext cab S-10's that are "below the window line" because of their class restrictions...

Are the Aero ports less $ than the Dayton or Precision port kits from Parts Express? I always hear people refer to the Areo ports, but I don't see the difference, and I would think that if Areo port (isn't that Rockford Fosgate stuff?) where made by RF it would be more $$$ for the exact same junk.

I think they are a little more, but I got all 4 of them for 50 shipped
