my front doors have stock 5.25" speakers, was wondering what would be involved in installing a 6.5" component system and how much a typical shop would charge for the service

also, would it be significantly more simple to go with a 5.25" component system?

thanks

it would be way cheaper to go with a 5.25 component set...The 5.25 sets are still very loud and produce a good bit of midbass(not quite as much as a 6 1/2) but still good

MDF rings will allow you to ugrade to 6.5" comps most of the time, unless you have clearance issues.

Most shops will charge between $50 and $75 per hour for the work. It shouldn't take them more than 2 hours to do this job, but you could easily do it yourself.

Yes, it would be significantly easier to just stick with a 5.25" comp. 6.5" comps will yield better results, but 5.25"s are good too.
