Ok so I am starting my endeavor on a car pc and this is the list of items i have purchased so far:

MINI-ITX VIA EPIA-M C3 600MHZ 512MB RAM MOREX-3877

USB 2.0 Bluetooth V2.0 EDR Dongle Wireless Adapter New

Wireless 54Mbps IEEE 802.11g LAN PCI Card WiFi #9830

MAXTOR 100GB ULTRA ATA/133 HARD DRIVE

I know I still need an operating system and i can get it for free, shush shush, but what would be best to run? Where can i find a cheap usb dongle and the computer supposedly already has a 12V 5a power supply so it should just wire up directly! yay! but anyway could i just add a new fuse to the panel and wire it so it comes on with the ignition but how could i set it up where the computer would stay on for atleast 30min to an 1hr on after the car is off on hibernation before shutdown. Thanks guys!

Depending on your operating system the timed hibernation shouldn't really be that hard. I would just be careful you don't drain your battery in doing so. Actually, the battery thing could be an idea. Maybe you could find a small battery and wire it up with a relay so that it could power the computer once the car is turned off? If you figure out the size and all that properly you could probably get one that would work for roughly 30 minutes or so.

Another option could be to use a time delay relay. The ELK-960 is used for home application, but it handles 12V so I'm sure you could manipulate it to work in your situation. It can take an input signal and translate that into a delayed output for up to 60 minutes (adjustable).

ELK-960 Delay Timer/Relay

Definitely not my area of expertise, but hopefully something there helped out.

thanks man that definitely helped me out on where I should start first though. My dad has some small 12V application type batteries that look like baby kinitecs used in alarm systems. Imma try and get my hands on those. Any other advice would be nice too..

and snoopyy why you bein mean to yo baby daddy
