Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt Ng have a thread on how Subwoofertool's box plans were off?

I heard something about that too. I think you're better off using Moe Lester's Box Plans from the Sticky at the top of the Enclosures section.

Has anyone on here had their stuff professionally installed? I would rather have a pro do it than to just mess around with the stuff myself. I had lots of trouble installing a simple HU.

Does it cost a lot? Can I bring them my sub, amp, box, and wiring and have them do it or do I need to pay for them to use their own wiring and accessories?

I like the assurance that it will work properly, and that I won't royaly f*ck anything up like I did with the piece of $hit head unit.

There's not much to installing a system. To get an audio shop to do it, they'll charge you at least $50 an hour. And a lot of them won't do the install unless you buy the equipment from them.

yea i had my shiet professionally installed because i was in the same spot as you... i dont like fuqing around with electrical stuff when it comes to cars

i went to my local audio shop asked them if to put everything in... i supplied every, Box/Amp/Sub/Wiring Kit/LOC

and they did everything for $45 and did a real nice job putting it together

the shop i went to had everything, i even asked them not to drill holes under my dash when mounting the remote bass knob so they used some velcro and other things i custom that i wanted

heres a pic of the final product

they did a nice clean install and hid all the wires so nothing looks messy or out of place

Ok well I think I'm going to go check out some places and see how much it costs to install if I provide everything.

champaned out, did you have the sub in the box when you brought it or did they do that too? Did you have the amp kit and wiring for the sub?

and do I have the voice coil for the sub right. Dual 1ohm, I'm looking to run it with an amp at 2ohm. I can wire dual 1ohm to 2ohm right?

when i brought everything to audio shop, i had everything in their factory boxes... the shop had to mount/drill the sub in the box and i had asked them to mount the amp behind the box so its easily acessable by folding down my rear seats

and i bought my amp wiring kit off knuknoceptz and told them i had my own wiring kit so they didnt charge me extra for using their supplies

and yes Dual 1ohm can be wired in series to get a final load of 2ohm

Yea, sorry, this is just the sub part of the system. I'm also going to be getting a new head unit, an Alpine cda 9856; and down the road when I have some more cash I'll replace the infinity tweeters and midwoofers in the front and the crappy amp thats powering them.

This is just the first step in the "system" direction.

What do you guys suggest for front and back? I want front & back together to be under $500 preferably. I'm looking at 6-1/2" component and 6-1/2" coaxial Alpine and JL Audio.

And then an amp 400x4 or so.

One question I have is that I checked out wjjeeps.com and when installing the new speakers they modified the 6x9" opening to fit a 6-1/2" woofer and 1" tweeter; but the Jeep infinity system has dash tweeters. So I guess I just leave those there and they just sit silent on the dash?

What are your thoughts on this:

Front: JL Audio XR650 CSi 6-1/2" Component

Rear: JL Audio XR650 CXi 6-1/2" Coaxial

Amp: Crunch PZi 100.4

The speakers were the ones used in the wjjeeps.com JL Audio Upgrade. The amp is giving more power RMS than the speakers are rated though. I have lots of time to think because I need to save up the money to pay for it.

The JL speakers are supposed to be pretty good. I wouldn't get a Crunch amp though. You're better off getting a good used amp if you're on a budget.
