First system since the internet

Why would I buy 2000+ watts when I only want around 500? Answer: if it's the same price as the 500w amp!!!

I know you guys have uber experience, and won't lead me astray! I simply can't justify a beefy system. If this Montero had an infinity upgrade, I would probably have just lived with it.

Are you stuck on buying new? You can pick up some decent used amps for fairly cheap.

Do you definitely need rear fill? If you need cheap 6.5s I think I have 2 pairs of old audioque (soundqubed now) coaxials that I bought when they were blowing out NOS. 1 pair is new and 1 pair were taken out and test fitted. Would let both pairs go for $30 + shipping. Otherwise someone else may chime in with some budget coaxials.

Pioneer deck you mentioned should do the trick.

Subs: Your initial choices should do ok. I would personally lean towards the JBL over the Boston. Or soundqubed has decent bang for buck. May also want to check the Sundown Audio yard sale on CACO and see if anything pops out at you.

Great deal on some speakers right there!

Because a "20000W" amp that costs 100$ will only give you 500W... it will perform poorly and probably fail prematurely.

500W is fine and most of the mainstream brands make some solid and reliable gear in that range. In 500w range I'd personally be shopping around for a used JL 500/1 which can be had on eBay or forums for 130$ ish. They're really nice for 500W Otherwise Kicker, Rockford, JBL/Infinity, Alpine all make some good stuff in that power tier.

IMO You'd do well enough getting some coaxials in any of those brands either. Their 100$ ish a set lineup should be good value for the money.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy junk. If money is as tight as you say, you might as well spend it on something that'll perform well and last a good while for you.

Id run a Planet Audio Anarchy before I would a Boss..Not a bad cheap 2 ohm stable amp to be honest.Id look at trying to find a used Alpine 500 rms 2 ohm stable amp for $100 and under.New Planet Audio AC1500 1M Anarchy Monoblock 1500W Class A B Power Car Amplifier 636210103721 | eBay
My first amps were Planet Audio Anarchy 2500's.

Doubt they made close to rated, but they were reliable and pushed the subs I had pretty good.

Ran a pair on completely stock electrical with 4 gauge CCA and they were fine, lol. With a 60 amp alt and small lead-acid battery, I can't imagine what my voltage drop was! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

OK. I am researching everything you all have said!

Also, all the factory speakers have blown/rotted surrounds, which explains the popping and farting. And there are actually tweeters in the tweeter pods (also blown). So, any modest not-blown 6.5" will at least get me started. The Alpines are tempting. Looks like only a high pass inline filter without low pass to the woofer. Probably just like coax drivers but separate.
