First System (looking for advice)

I have an 03 Mercedes C230 Kompressor (sedan)

Ive been looking at the JL Audio 13w7's and 13w6's, im going to buy 2 subs and im trying to figure out if the 13w7's are worth all the extra cash... A pair of w7's is gunna run me close to 2 grand while i could probably get a pair of w6's for $1400.

Now if the w7's are truly worth the extra money, im willing to spend it, but if you say i could get a pair of w6's and be just as happy, that seems logical. Im just trying to make sure im not gunna buy the w6's and kick myself down the road for not saving up for the "best" aka the w7's...

I am also wondering what you think i should use to power a set of w7's or w6's. I know JL makes the 1000/1 mono amps and the 500/1 mono amps... But sence im laying out HUGE cash for the woofers, I would love to find a cheaper alternative to JL's overpriced amps. If you have any suggestions about a cheaper solution, im all ears.

^Im new at this, but from the reviews ive read, the JL's are the way to go. However if anyone thinks im wrong about that asumption, id love your input.

if you would like to save money and get the same sound coming from behind you in your car I'd look at some alternative subs. don't get me wrong though w7s and w6s are awesome subs. but not the way I wouldgo

You might want to consider a couple si mags for subs.

theres so much you can do. if you post a budget and your goals for your system (SQ,SQL,SPL) and if your willing to but online then you will get many replies

i have 2 mmats pro 2.5s and they replaced my W7s 250 shipped for the pair, better sq and get just as loud. I ran both off a JL 500/1 and the mmats were far better than the W7s. I ran JL for about 3 years and I thought it was hot sh*t but they are completely overpriced

def....there is a lot better stuff out there then JL for much cheaper. give us a budget and goals you are trying to do and people can better help you

Ive got a budget of about 2300$, but i was hoping i wouldnt have to use it all just to cover bass equipment. i mean if i have to spent it all for the nastiest bass on the block, then i will. But im looking for any suggestions to get ultimate performance for the least amount of money.

I'd look into ID, FI, AA, and SI for subs, a little less mainstream but equal to or better than the jl's

yea check out DD 9100's or maybe Fi BTL. they are amazing subs and much better then the JL's.

the 9100 while being a great sub, would still run him more than the W7 and leave him little room if he got a pair for an amp

For 2000$, suggest a pair of 12" subs, and an amp to power them.
