Jl Audio w 3, w6, w7

I need a little info for a friend about these different woofers. Is there great mechanical and structural differences in these woofer, or simply ohm configuration.

Yes, the W3 is more budget minded- it has a single voice coil, shorter excursion, less power handlingand less of JL's various crazy patents.

The W6 is JL's best SQ driver. It lacks the output of the W7 (although it will still get pretty loud)

The W7 is JL's overpriced flagship. Nice driver and all, sounds good, but dang it's expensive. It's got a long list of all of JL's crazy patents.

thanks. I know, i see it's price on a w7 and its sky high, must be good lol... How do you guys find a slask 1000/1amp,

in comparison to a pdx 1000.1 or an mrd m 1005

There are lots of products out there roughly comparable to JL for less. Honestly, JL makes excellent stuff, but HOLY OVERPRICED BATMAN! Name recognition is their key to inflated prices. I'd rather buy 2 other subs than one W7, and 2 1,000w amps for the price of one 1000/1

this is noramally true but the w7 does have the best sq capabilities when installed right the w7 was produced focusing on sq at high levels... extreme output was more of a side benefit

Now if output falls into someone's definition of "SQ" then I could see where that point comes from...

i've heard them all and they are better than both of those amps in most instances esspecially when running higher ohm loads... bottom line is you get what you pay for

thats not too smart... identical installs? they are completely different subs and require completly different installs... no with the right amount of power and correct install the w7 is a hands down winner in both sq and spl over the w6 with the execption of price

i agree the w6 sounds better and can get louder, the surround on the w7 have a tendency to rip easily

don't get me wrong i much more preferr the sound of the w6 but the meter's show that the w7 has much better frequency responce at higher spl than the w6... but i would much rather hear a w6 than a w7 as far as how it sounds... something i've realized over the years is that specifications and tests don't even come close to substituting for your hearing... when you are installing a system its for you to hear not a computer

13w6 VS 13w7 and you think the w6 can get louder?

dunno about that... the w6 is a great driver but i doubt the w7 has less output than a w6
