First HU install, dead battery.

OK heres my problem. My car battery died and I think its from my HU install. The car started a couple of times after the install, but after not using the car for a few days, I found it with the battery dead. So I think something is constantly ******* power.

Here's what I think I did wrong, but am not sure exactly how to fix.

There is one wire coming from the HU (pioneer DEH-690ub) that you are supposed to "connect to the system control terminal of the power amp or auto-antenna relay control terminal". I think what I did was connect both the antenna wire, and the amp wire, to this wire from the HU, it was the only way to get the antenna to go up for the tuner. Do I need to connect the amp to the HU with the "system remote control"

I know it says one or the other, but I wasn't sure which was the right one, so I just connected both, which is why I think that's the mistake. Anyone have any ideas? My freakin battery is dead and don't want to put in another until I can fix this thing.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds more to me like you crossed the h/u's constant (yellow) and switched (red) power wires, thus leaving your h/u on all the time. Usually this is the case.

Hey guys I just pulled it out and looked at it, this is what I have.

I connected the blue/white "system remote control" from the HU to 2 wires which I think is my mistake. The first of these wires is a blue "power antenna" from the car. The second is a black wire that is connected to my amp in the "remote turn on lead" connection (although the wire is black, not blue and white, but I think it should be blue and white).

So I think only one of those is supposed to be connected. Which one should I connect?

Also, I checked the constant and power wires, I think they are fine. The yellow is connected to yellow and the red is connected to red.

OK fellas, after some more work heres what I got.

The battery isn't completely dead which is good.

The problem is, when I just wire the "system remote control" wire from the amp(s) to the blue/white "system remote control" from the HU, I can play everything, including the radio, but my antenna doesn't go up.

When I wire just the "power antenna" wire from the car to the blue/white "system remote control" on the HU, my antenna goes up, but I get no sound.

Thats why I wired them both originally, and I think thats where I went wrong.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks for your replies so far.

I don't know how the power antenna wire should connect, but I wouldn't think it would be from the system remote wire. If that is the actual wire feeding the power to the antenna motor, I don't think the remote wire is designed to send the power the motor requires.

It would seem to make more sense that the antenna wire would be connected to something like the ignition power wire. But I'm not familiar with this and I'm stabbing in the dark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My antenna does have an adapter, but thats an entirely different wire. Does anybody have any other suggestions to get this thing working properly?

OK I don't know a lot about electrical things and car stereos but this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to try to take the wire from the car that lifts the antenna, and connect it to the RED wire that is controlled by the ignition switch. This means that I will be just playing with wires and connecting two in the car that I think should be connected, and throwing the HU red wire in there too.

Am I going to blow something in my car? Is this safe? Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Also I will be connecting the two blue/white wires "system control" and leaving those alone b/c that just has to happen.
