erm..hello.
Pretty sure this would be the right category...but to the point...

i got a GE surround sound system and have had it for almost 2 yrs now. Had it sitting in the closet and decided to get it out wolla go and jam to some tunes. Well I decided to hookup one of the 15s i got sitting around and have some decent bass as well, I go to hook up the sub to the dvdplayer and all its doing is making a crackling/pop noise...wtf is wrong with it?

any help is appreciated!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I think you need to hook the sub up to the amplifier instead of to the dvd player.

Just a guess on my part.

it has oneof those built in amplifiers for just the sub. Or so thats what it says onthe player. I opened it up lastnight, and check these fuses on the circuit boards, and they were all good, thought maybe i hit the two wires together while touching a terminal or something.

no burnt smell, no blackened areas or anything. It was working for like 10 seconds then it just quit, and started making the crackling/popping noises.

97 views and not a single person can help just a little? blah..

getting fairly pissed off at this thing..i think i have found the problem, but need a solution. One of the resistors is gone bad...what to do?

Well, thanks for the reply anywayz:D BUT I decide to hell with it and just made $60 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sounds like a bad channel. it sounds like the problem I was having with my home amp. Mine woul dplay fine for a bit, then all of a sudden, the speaker and tweeter would pop/crackle. amp would go into protect and shut itself down. hooked up the same speaker to other channel worked fine. hooked what I thought was bad channel to other speaker(s) and pop/crackle. took it in for verification BAD CHANNEL

thats exactly what this one is doing...it played just perfect and sounded hella awesome for like 10 secs, then it made a pop noise and now it just does the crackling noises:(

if i dont get it figured out, imma sell it.
