First Ever Box Build: 4 DD 1508's

Really Nice build you got there for your first attempt. Also looks like a good father/son project too. If you have extra MDF laying around and aren't worried too much about weight you could probably double baffle the front of the box for the nice flush look and maybe do the same to the top to strengethen it (without changing interior dimensions. The back will probably be braced good enough with port. When I did my boxes I think I used black weather stripping silicon sealer. Silicon based stuff is good cause it can flex and easier to get in there, but doesn't look like you need to seel up anything as that box is square and straight and the glue has everything sealed up.

Lookin foward to the vids and finished pictures.

Good lookin box. Is that going into your focus? If so what are the dimensions of the box as I am looking to do something similar and I have a zx2 to work with.
Thanks. Yes it will be going into my focus. And the outer dimensions of the box are 34" long x 14.5" tall x 15" deep.

Thank you. And it was a good father/son project. I do have some extra mdf laying around and i was thinking about putting a double baffle on it, but with gas prices i might not want the extra weight. Yea i just went to the hardware store and bought some sealant. Should work just fine. And vids and finished pics should be up tonight or tomorrow.

Build looks good, But did you cut/build it or did your dad?
Thanks. And yes i built it. My dad was the one who helped me hold while i was cutting out the holes and port and everything else. He helped me glue and hold the box when it was being put together.

Sand the edges of the port.
How are you going to finish the box?
Will do when i put it all together. And not sure how i'm gonna finish it still playing with ideas. What do you think i should do?

I would definitely brace the front before the box is complete.......On my box, I thought meh with only 500-600 RMS it will be fine for now....PORT NOISE out the ass because of the baffle flexing, but mine was also angled.

At least throw a brace or 2 in there since you plan to give it 3k watts at some point and time

Yea i don't think i'll get much flexing because of where the port is at. Just got done putting the port in and seems very stiff and i don't wanna throw off tuning. Next box i will for sure put some bracing on it. And when i throw 3k on it i'll prolly end up making a new box by then to try something different.

Looks loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'm hoping its going to be. Waiting for the port and caulk to dry then i'm gonna go put the top on and caulk it and then i'm gonna let it dry over night and in the morning i'll put in the subs and test it out.

Here is a pic of my 4 DD 8 box...I've done over 152+ with it...similar to yours.....

**** looks real nice and thats loud as hell. Wish i could get it that loud someday. Is that box just painted or how is it finished? I'm deciding on how i'm gonna finish the box.

dude just double up the baffle on the outside. bam! more bracing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I think thats what i'm gonna do if i see alot of flexing or hear port noise.

Alright people another update on the box. Box is finished. Port is in and top is put on. Took some more pics. Still have to sand the port and carpet or paint but i won't be doing that for a while. It got too late tonight so i called it quits and will put the subs in tomorrow. Expect some pics, vids, and a review. I'll prolly get pics of it installed tomorrow but vids will come on friday because im busy tomorrow night.

Now onto the pics.
