Hey guys. This is the first box i've ever built and its turning out to be pretty good. The box is for 4 DD 1508's. Let me know what you guys think. I'm not finished yet but the box is 3/4's together. Some of the spots you see on the box are wet spots from where i used a rag to wipe off the excess glue.

Tell me what you think. Enjoy

What do you guys think for a first build? After the box is finished and caulked i will be sanding it down to smooth everything out. Do you think i didn't put enough screws in? The box should be finished tomorrow night and i will post more pics and then when everything drys i will post a review on how the subs sound.

Yea i used wood glue and i clamped it also for the night. I know it didn't need it because of the screws but i did it anyways. Yea i was thinking of doing a second baffle so i could flush mount the subs. I have extra mdf to do that but for right now i just wanna get it done and hear these subs. I'm a 17 yr old kid and am not too experienced at this but i'll learn more as i do it more.

It should sound pretty good when you get it completed...The DD 8's like to be tuned at 40hz...
Yep and they are tuned at 40 hz. Can't wait to hear them. This will be off a sundown 1500. Should be a good daily driver. I'm just hoping these can hit the lows. What do you think Louisiana? How do these 8's hit the lows like 12's and 15's because i know you have some experience with dd 8's and other dd's.

you may want to add a 2nd sundown 1500 later on and strap it at 1 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but one will sound nice...4 of the 8's will be comparable to many other brands pair of 15's....

I was looking at doing the same sub setup

get it all setup and get some vids ASAP!
x2! I was always wanting to make a box for 3 DD1508's once I get used to making boxes.

Nice first build, btw! My very first build is on its way to completion outside on the workbench... and it's only sealed.

I have one question guys. When i was at the store i was looking at caulk and there is a bunch of different kinds. Some people said just use cheap house caulk, but i wanna know what you guys use. What will work best and dry the fastest? I heard you have to let the silicone type dry overnight because it lets off an acid when it cures and can damage the surround on the sub.

Yea thats what i was thinking but right now my electrical wouldn't handle it and my alternator is really hidden on my car. If i could do it i would upgrade the alternator but i don't feel like paying a mechanic shops price. And also i will be entering college in another year so i don't want it all just to sit. I was thinking of actually selling off this sundown later and gettin the 3000 watt version because that is made to run at 1 ohm and if i strapped 2 1500's i would be running them each at .5 ohm so i think the 3000 version would run more efficiently with my setup. And i'm hopin its gonna be louder than my last setup so we'll see in a couple days.

Will do. Box should be finished tonight and i will prolly get updates the same time i started this thread last night. I will let it dry overnight and then on thursday i'll drop the subs in and see how it sounds.

Thanks. Vids will be up prolly tomorrow if i get time to shoot some. Gotta go off somewhere to shoot them because i don't want anyone in my neighborhood knowing i have a new setup. If they know my garage will prolly be gettin broken into so i'll just watch where i play it. No playing it in my neighborhood anywhere.

how many cubic ft? Looks like a good build. meh, eff the caulk just make sure its all sealed up and your fine
Its gonna be around 3.5 cubes @ 40 hz. And so i shouldn't even worry about caulk? should i just drop the subs in and see if there are leaks? and if there are then i should prolly caulk it.
