first car!?!?

Early-mid 90's S-10 Blazers hold up pretty well. Only problem I had was a little bit of rust. 4.3L is decent, not too quick but has plenty of torque.

A Caprice or something would work fine too.

You seem a little torn between a car and a SUV here ...

well ur right i want to either be able to go off road....or go really fast and like i said i dont like trucks

what u have against 4cyl?
nissan 240sx is very reliable and fairly quick with a 2.4L engine, like 155hp stock rear wheel drive

well...im not really againsed it is u have aftermaket parts but i dont have the money for the aftermaket parts i would need to make it as fast and powerfull as i want it

For a first car, you should think about something reliable and reasonably safe. You're in Michigan, so a 240SX is not a good idea. Lightweight RWD cars like that are certainly fun and interesting in the snow, but not something you want to be depending on in the northern climate. If you can find one, an 80's Audi is a great way to go - AWD, 5 cylinder engine, and it'll run forever if you change the oil regularly. A former cop car is not a bad choice, either, but make sure it's not been severely beaten on by anybody else.

I'd definately stay away from a RWD V6 like a Mustang or Camaro, because they're not only not that fast, but they draw way more attention than they deserve. I learned that one the hard way.

lol didnt consider the northern climate i live in sunny california

I'm in the same dilema, but i have $6000 to spend. I don't like trucks either what do you guys think about an early 90s audi or a jeep grand cherokee maybe. Also I've seen many lexus' on ebay with about 100k miles around that price range. any input would be helpful.

i think i might get a dodge ramcharger there 4x4 and has a v8 and i found one with a 6 inch lift with 35 inch mud tires there like a late 80s suburban but not so bulky
Your fuel economy will nearly be measured in gallons per mile with something like that I'm afraid. I'd stay away from something that will be ******* fuel like that.
